2012 Hall of Fame

I was honored to be inducted at the 2012 NHRA Southeast Division 2 Banquet in the Random Category.  The Random Category is given to a person for their Achievements  and Contributions to the NHRA Sport of Drag Racing  especially in the Southeast Division 2.  It was a very high honor to follow so many great people who have received this prestigious award in the past.  It was also very humbling and emotional for me.

I was introduced by my very special friend and past recipient of the Hall of Fame Award, Terry Earwood.  That was another honor in itself.  Terry Earwood is probably one of the best drivers I have ever known, whether it be drag racing, road course racing, police pursuit training or car testing.  Terry also is very good as a stand-up comedian.

This honor would not have been possible if it wasn't for the support of NHRA personnel: John Biedenkapp, Darrel Davis, Buster & Ann Couch, Bob Vandergriff, John Mazzarella, Shirley Bunce, Bruce Bakke, Wally Parks,  Lex Dudas, Bill Holt and Jim Collins  to mention just a few.  The Division 2 racers from Bracket Racers to Comp Eliminator and other Division racers also played a major part in receiving this prestigious award.  The Turbo Action Employees also contributed to this award and many with nearly 30 years of service.

I would like to thank the election committee consisting of six esteemed individuals:  Don Garlits,  Art Malone,  Bobby Boyd,  Carl Weisinger,  Lex Dudas and Bill Holt.

The most important person sharing this award is my wife Hallie of 44+ years.   Without Hallie, none of this would have occurred!
